CAUSE DAY – July 27th Cheryl Stansfield reported our “cause” this year is for the Mid Minnesota Women’s Center. She indicated that we will have a speaker. Nancy Einen is working on the luncheon and Myra is helping on decorating and set up. Raffle items are needed along with a $20.00 donation for this event and Cheryl would like items dropped off at the Club on the two Wednesdays prior to the 27th. She is suggesting laundry detergent and non-perishable groceries. Cheryl S. thanked Nancy S. for making the signs that will be distributed around the Club house.
WOW – As Nancy and Susan were unable to attend, a report will be made at the next meeting.
MATCH PLAY – Nancy stated that Myra F. and Pat McKee, and Betsy O. and Mary Kay K. will be finishing up their match play in July. Good luck to you all.
SHOOT OUT- Anita indicated Susan Walstrom has been added to the LEADERBOARD. Mary Kay K. indicated she also made the list last week. Anita to follow-up. Anita indicated that all this information can also be found on the new Whitefish website at [email protected]. Maxine wished to thank Nancy S. for all the work she has put into making this website.
AWAY TOURNAMENTS – Joan went over the most recent Invitationals and other golf tournaments available to the league. Most notably: Black Bear, Pokegama Hot Ball Tournament, Tiana’s Drive for Show Putt for Dough, Pink Ribbon Cupboard at Maddens. All these and more are located on the Bulletin Board and on the Whitefish website as indicated above.
OLD BUSINESS
Jean F. indicated that she is having the memorial bricks engraved and she would like to have a ceremony at the August meeting to place these bricks around the ceremonial tree next to hole 4.
NEW BUSINESS
Nominating Committee: Nancy stated we need a nominating committee as there are three positions to be filled for 2017: Vice President, Secretary and someone to help Anita with the weekly events. Barb Holubar has indicated she will be unable to assist due to her current circumstances.
Two Club: Nancy S. brought up the 2 Club program. If you score a 2 on a hole, any member of the 2 Club would pay that member $1.00. A discussion followed regarding how much does it cost to start, should we get pins or tickets to show proof of membership, Etc.? It was suggested that we put it in our curriculum for next year. But if anyone is interested in doing it this year, please feel free to start one in your group.
Hole-In-One Insurance: Nancy S. brought up the suggestion that our League have hole-in-one insurance. The suggestion was to have each member pay $5 for this in the Spring along with our dues. MaryKay/Joan made and seconded this suggestion. MSA approved.
RULES DISCUSSION
Barb Hanson was going to cover the rules pertaining to Direct (water) Hazard, Lateral (water) Hazard and Nearest Point of Relief rules. As we were running short on time she took all of us outside and actually demonstrated only the Nearest Point of Relief rule. She added, you can go from the rough to the fairway if that, in fact, is the nearest point of relief at that time. She will cover the other two categories next month. Thank you to Barb for a very informational demonstration.
Nancy stated she has sent cards to Carol Germann for her recent surgery. She also indicated that if anyone is in need for a card for a family member, to please let her know.
Winners of the 50/25/25 were Nancy McEnroe $25 and Roxanne T. $25. With $47 going to the League.
ADJOURNMENT: Nancy S. adjourned the meeting at 1:50 pm.
Respectfully submitted for Diane Giefer
