Due to the rain and lightening, the Whitefish Women's 18 Hole League cancelled the golf round, but met at noon at Bogey's Grill at Whitefish Golf Club for the July monthly meeting and luncheon.
The League's "cause"day had been dedicated to the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center. Mary Savage, a representative of the Center, joined the group and made a brief presentation about the function of the facility, how it's funded, and how important it is in the lives of it's many clients.
Donations of non-perishable food items and laundry soap had been collected. In addition, through both cash and raffle donations from the League members and many of the local businesses, the League was able to present the Center with a little over $1,400 for the day, which was graciously accepted and much appreciated.
League will resume on Aug 3rd. League Championships will be played on August 16-17th, and the Women of Whitefish (WOW), a combined 18 and 9 hole league event, will be held on Thursday, August 25th.
